I want to get a family pet and have kids ages 5 and 6. Which breed of dog is better. A Miniature Poodle or a Miniature Schnauzer?

To me I prefer poodle.
Depends on the dog and your ability to train both.

Hands down, a NICE Mini Poodle – Schnauzers can be nippy and are very barky – and not necessarily good kid dogs. Ask the local Poodle club for the name of a good breeder – they should be able to find you an ADULT rather than getting a puppy in the mix – an adult will be able to cope far better with kids that small.
A side note though – although a mini Poodle would be fine, you really might want to consider just getting a Lab – hey are really the best for small kids – any smaller dog is going to have to fend off the kids at some point just for survival, and a Lab is pretty much impervious to anything they can do. And of course, it's not YOUR kids we're worried about – it's their friends and their lawyer parents. Nobody ever sues when you have a Lab…

Mini anything is a bad idea when you have younger children. I'm a dog Groomer and I have known many in both breeds to bite. A good family dog would be a lab or golden retriever. I suggest you go to akc.org and do some research on breed personalities. I recommend against anything that needs a haircut because you already have your hands full without having to brush a dog every day and worry about the kids sticking stuff in its hair. If you really want a small dog, I suggest a pug or Boston terrier. They are lower maintenance and have good personalities. DO NOT get a Yorkie or a Chihuahua. Please.

I think female mini schnauzers are a lot friendlier and more even tempered than males. We have had several females.

Either, as long as they are socialized at a young age with kids, still, they should always be supervised when with the kids. Poodles require a LOT of grooming and hair cuts, Schnauzers require a lot, but not nearly as much. Make sure these dogs fit you in other ways, other GREAT family dogs are:
The Newfoundland
The Boxer
The Collie
The Beagle
The Labrador Retriever
The Golden Retriever
The Great Dane
I would look around your local shelter.

I think, I bigger dog is best. Like a Golden or Labrador
My uncle has a Schnauzer (i also do, but she is a mix). my uncle's dog is quite aggressive, mine is friendly unless you jump the fence and hates my little cousin. Idk why. But my cousin is like 2. But, if you a mini poodle maybe get him a little older age. Because the kids may grab at him.

I have always had miniature or toy poodles. But am thinking about a miniature or toy schnauzer. I just lost my toy parti poodle. I miss him terribly . What do you have that I can adopt and love

Dear Beth, we are very sorry about your dog, and we understand your feelings. Unfortunately, we don’t offer dogs at this website. Hopefully, you’ll find a wonderful schnauzer to adopt.
