Q: What other dog looks like a Rottweiler puppy?
Me and my husband just got a Rottweiler. He is 6 weeks old... I was a little skeptical about getting a Rottweiler because I was always taught that Rottweilers are vicious dogs. Mine is not that bad, and he likes to bite...but he is just a baby. Well my mom is coming to visit me in a few days, and she would absolutely go crazy if I told her that my puppy is a Rottweiler, so I was wondering what other dogs look like Rottweilers when they are puppies.

I wouldn't tell her about his breed right away. Let her interact with the puppy first. This is what I had my dad do when I got a breed he thought he absolutely hated. He warmed up to my pup and then I told him what she was. Rotties have pretty distinctive markings that will be hard to hide from someone who knows what they look like. Dobermans do have the same markings (different body style) so you could probably pass the pup off as one of those. Good luck!

Beaucerons and Hovawarts resemble Rottweilers the most. You could say it’s one of those.

First off I have got to say that I absolutely love Rotty's. I grew up with TONS of different breeds of dogs, and I have worked at a vet for 5 years. I swear that I have seen more small dogs bite, growl, and hurt people than large breeds. I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as a bad "breed" of dog. I DO however think that some breeds have a better chance to be aggressive if the owner is lazy. If you KNOW how to handle your animal, and you understand that there are different ways to train different tempered breeds….then you will be just fine!! :).
As to your question though, I have a puppy that I got at the shelter who is ADORABLE!! She is a mix between a Black Lab, and a German Shepard and I swear….There is NO DIFFERENCE between her and a rottweiler PUPPY. If you are that concerned with your mother, just tell her that it is a mix breed. Mix puppies can look like ANYTHING!! :) lol…so there shouldn't be any argument. Anyways, take care and I hope that everything goes great!! Remember, just keep up a good attitude and don't let anyone tell you that your dogs "breed" is wrong to own.!! You know better.. :)

A Bernese( spelling may be wrong) Mountain Dog looks like a Rottweiler but has longer hair as an adult. But as for the rottie, I would just tell your mom its a rottie. When I was growing up i had a Rottie, It was the biggest baby ever. He would sit on my lap, follow me everywhere and would cry when I left the room if he couldn't follow me. Just treat him with respect and he will do the same.
As for the biting try freezing a wet washcloth ( wet it, roll it into a log, put it in a baggie and freeze it). Give it to him when he's biting a lot, it makes teething easier and he will leave your fingers, furniture, etc. alone.

rottweilers are not bad dogs its just some bad people who have trained theirs all wrong my mate had two and they were so loving and obedient because they were trained properly. find a book or a web site on them and show your mum it so she can see for herself how caring and loveable they really are. good luck

you can try looking at a website where they have dog breeds
or its best that you find out info on rotweilers and prove to your mom that dogs are not vicous just because of their breed
p.s. all pups love to bite… it is bc they are teething

First of all, he's probably biting because he's too young to be away from his litter mates. Make sure to take him to puppy kindergarten to get him socialized. Rotties aren't dangerous if they're well-bred and well-trained.
I'd just tell your mom it's a Rottie and tell her you're socializing him well and making sure he won't be dangerous. Rotties are service dogs, after all, and would they trust a dangerous dog with the care of human beings? No way.

Be truthful because these are among the best pets ever. If you treat it well, you will have a big loveable bear that is so warm and sweet (and SO smart), you won't believe it. Rotts have a really bad reputation but they train well and are truly a wonderful dog. Seriously, prepare yourself to fall in love with your dog!

At 6 weeks it could be a Newfoundland. You have never done your homework, have you?
