Andi: What is the size of a Newfoundland at each month?
I was just curious because I am planning on getting one this summer. At each month, how big would it be up until it's adulthood? And what weight also.

The average weight for an adult Newfie is usually around 130-150 lbs depending on the gender, activity level, and pedigree of the individual animal... Some may weigh more some less… you should always be able to see the definition of at least the last two ribs, but they should not be protruding… Height is: Dogs 27-29 inches/ Bitches 25-27 inches at adulthood { ie: 2 yrs of age}

That being said: {REMEMBER THESE ARE APPROXIMATE WEIGHTS and as long as they are steadily gaining between 3-5 lbs a week you should be okay.. }
4 weeks: 11 pounds
8 weeks: 22 pounds
12 weeks: 40 pounds
16 weeks: 64 pounds
5 months: 79 pounds
6 months: 88 pounds
7 months: 101 pounds
8 months: 108 pounds
9 months: 112 pounds
10 months: 115 pounds
11 months: 117 pounds
12 months: 119 pounds

There is no way to know for sure how much your Newf will weigh each month. Each dog grows at its own pace (like people), and not all dogs from the same litter will end up weighing the same anyway. My Newf weighed 20 lbs at eight weeks and ended up weighing 150 lbs as an adult. As long as it's growing and healthy, the exact weight at each month is not a concern.

My boy just turned 9 months and weighed 82 lbs. His rapid growth seems to be happening now. He gained 12 lb from 8-9 months. He is now taller than my large German Shepherd. I do believe all puppies grow at their own rate. I think your boy is good... Feeding good puppy food keeps them from growing too fast which is good. These guys are great no matter how big they are

According to the Newfoundland puppy growth chart in Emma Bruno's book "The Newfoundland" the male puppy at 4 months is 64 pounds. A chart developed by Dr. Abramson Miri, Israel, goes into detail.
1 month - 11 pounds, 2 months - 22 pounds, 3 months - 40 pounds, 4 months - 64 pounds, 5 months - 79 pounds, 6 months - 88 pounds, 7 months - 101 pounds, 8 months - 108 pounds, 9 months - 112 pounds, 10 months - 115 pounds, 11 months - 117 pounds, 12 months - 119 pounds
Keep in mind that a Newfoundland puppy may not reach his adult size until he is 18 months old. Puppies of large breeds are most affected by the feeding regime and most prone to disturbances in their skeletal growth. It is all-important that they receive the right quantities of calories and nutrients. Puppy owners often try to feed their Newfoundland puppy as much as he will eat. Because of that many dogs tend to overeat, and this could have damaging effects on your puppy’s health.

Conventional vets should not be consulted regarding nutrition, vaccine protocol or the age at which to spay/neuter .. they have been trained by Mars candy bar company and they do not have sufficient scientific knowledge with which to base their decisions. Remember they are not in the business for the health and welfare of your companion but to make money. Always do your research and where possible consult with a holistic veterinarian instead.

We have a 6 month old Male at 96lbs. You can still feel last 2 ribs. Healthy, active and rambunctious pup. Neutering at 18 months per our vet recommendations. Every pup is different. As long as they are on a good healthy large breed puppy food and get healthy (breed recommended) exercise than I wouldn’t be concerned unless your vet tells you otherwise.

I have a 7 month old male Newfounland and he already weighs 120lb, he’s solid but you can still feel last two ribs easily. I no it’s hard to judge and every dog is different, but would you expect him to be above average size when he’s full grown.

He should be above the average size but don’t try to accelerate his growth. Just feed and exercise him well, and he’ll get what mother nature has foreseen for him.

My 7 month old female is now 112 lbs. My vet said she looked great at our 6 month visit. According to all my research, this is large for a girl. Should I be more concerned?

I find myself asking for second opinions after dealing with my last THREE vets. The first vet I took my pups to for their first round of shots was arrested for his pot farm in his office which led to my asking my second vet, if my dog might be pregnant because he wouldn’t fix her before she was a year old. so he checked her out and said no and a week later she delivered 6 pups IN MY BED. The last vet? He jabbed my dog with the rabies needle and it got stuck in my dog’s neck and he left the room and didn’t return while we were there. They’re giving out vet licensed in cracker Jack boxes now.

I have a 8 month old male and he is 102 lbs. My vet wants me to wait on having him neutered tI’ll he’s at least 18 month. Has the time frame changed or is this the norm? I’m concerned he’s growing to fast?

Like people, every dog is unique. I would follow the vet’s recommendations. BTW, 102 lbs is not much for 8 months.

Big Mac is 5mths old Newfoundland and weighs 37kilos he was 1 of 9 pups he runs every time he’s outside diet is good. He is fed a large meal once a day of dryer food and fish is he too big?

I have a male newfy, he is 15 months. For the last 2 months he has not gained any weight, he is still at 91 lbs. He seems healthy, very happy, listens very well, runs, and plays a lot. I guess he is ok even though he is light for what he is… He is around 27 inches tall.
Perhaps he is the runt?

Don’t get upset. Those are average weights for a large number of dogs but the puppies do not grow according to charts. Each puppy is unique. The most important is that he is healthy and in a good mood. BTW, it’s much better for large dogs to grow thin.

Same here! We are on number three, all very healthy and massive, and none of them weighed anywhere near these numbers at these ages!

My Newf puppy is almost 8 months he weighed 71 lbs today. he eats a high grade puppy food that is good for large breeds.. He is as tall as my german shepherd (who is tall) and healthy, He runs all day with the other dogs. Thanks for letting me know he is not a shrimp.
