Russian Toy Terrier Breeders

I'm located in Australia and I am very interested in getting a Russian toy terrier... But I can't seem to find any in Australia:(

So I was wondering if you know where any breeders are located, anywhere in the world...
And also if you have one? Thankyou :)

It is hard to know if your country indeed has a breeder of Purebred Russian Toys. Your country has extremely difficult importation laws.It is a very long process to import dogs into your country.

Although you can find reputable breeders on our club's website, let me suggest to you.. here is a link to the Russian Toy Club in Russia http://rustoy-nkp.ru/ and a wonderful database that has many kennels listed to search from. ( be sure to use the English translation if you do not speak Russian)

Another suggestion, there are now Russian Toys that are being bred in the UK, they too have difficult importation laws, check with your governments importation laws and see which countries are more compatible to the importation laws. Maybe this will help in determining were you start first. Have you decide on which variety?

I think you're going to be hard pressed to find a breeder in Australia, you'll more than likely have to import one.

The Russian Toy or Russkiy Toy is a very small dog originally bred in isolation in Russia from the English Toy Terrier. There are two types, smooth haired and long haired, which were known by a variety of different names until brought together under the same standard as the Russkiy Toy in 2000.

The smooth haired type is the older of the two, with the long haired type first appearing in 1958. Until the 1990s, the breed was almost unknown outside of Russia, and so relatively few details on associated health issues are known. The Russkiy Toy was bred as a rat fighter and as a watchdog originally. The breed has been recognized by a couple of international kennel clubs.

The Russkiy Toy is one of the smallest breeds in the world, measuring between 8 inches and 10 inches and weighing anywhere between 3 pounds and 6 pounds. It has a small distinctive head with large eyes and triangular ears.
