Lately, quite a number of high-quality dog movies entered the screen introducing new movie dog stars. Filmmakers know for sure that having a funny and active dog in a film will help much to make it popular and probably top the box office hit charts as One Hundred and One Dalmatians did. For dog lovers, this increase in dog movies is like a wish list present, especially when a movie dog is the star of a film.
It's not easy to be a dog movie star. You have to get acquainted with this role in advance.

Dogs in the movies go back a long way. Movie dogs became known since silent films like Charlie Chaplin's The Kid. The first movie dog star was Rin Tin Tin rescued by American aviator and put into the show business in the early 1920s to play roles in more than 20 movies.
The most famous movie dog Lassie started its career in 1943 with Lassie Come Home. After that movie dog names like Beethoven, Benji and Wishbone became a part of our homes, not mentioning brilliant cartoon dogs like Snoopy and Scooby-Doo.
A year ago Yahoo Movies has made a list of the greatest movie dogs from silent flicks to the present, with beautiful pictures attached to it. A week later Hotel for Dogs came out, followed by such dog lovers' choices like Marley and Me, Space Buddies, The Dog Who Saved Christmas, and Hachiko. Now Marmaduke is on its way to spectators. Starring dogs in movies is difficult and requires a lot of determination and patience from the film director, the director of photography and the whole crew.
Today there are special schools that train movie dog actors, starting from general obedience to acting for the camera. If your pet tends to become a movie dog you will surely find a professional way to put it into the movie industry.
