Q: Is Canidae (lamb & rice) good dog food for my 3-month-old Great Dane pup?
is it better than Eagle pack - holistic select?
my Great Dane pup has sensitive skin. he is allergic to some dog food like Royal Canin.
and Canidae says its a food for all life stages on the pack (pups and adults)
the food has 21% protein and 12.5 % fat
and how long will a 35 lbs pack last for my 3-month-old Great Dane pup?

What is it in the Royal Canine that he's allergic to? Does the Candidae have the same ingredients? Most dogs with food allergies are allergic to grains so you might be better off finding a grain free food for him.

Yes, Canidae is fine for a Dane puppy. Any food fed to a Dane puppy should never be more than 24% protein, 14% fat.
A 35# bag will likely last you @ 6 weeks..of course, it depends how much you are feeding. Make sure not to overfeed. A Dane puppy should be lean (but not skinny) the last 2 ribs should just be visible.
I have adult Danes at this time… I feed @ 18 # per week, per Dane. My show boy is 180#.

They are both good foods, however, if the dog has food allergies, I think you would be better off with California Natural, Natural Balance, or Taste of the Wild. The first two are specifically formulated for dogs with allergies, and the last has more unique proteins (wetlands formula has duck, prairie formula contains bison). If you are choosing between the Canidae and the Eagle Pack, I would recommend the Canidae.

I have had Great Danes for over 20 years and my favorite food is Eagle Pack…
I am not familiar with Canidae and have never fed it.
NEVER Feed a large breed dog like a Great Dane a food with over 23% protein content.
It can cause growth deformities.
Also never feed puppy food to your Great Dane unless it is specifically for a large breed and even then be very wary of the protein content.

It is an excellent choice for your pup! The protein levels in the Lamb & Rice are right where they should be and it's excellent dog food!
I've been feeding my Golden this food from Canidae for over 2 years now and they look great! No problems at all.
Great choice IMO. You can get Canidae from Amazon (#ad) http://amzn.to/1yOP0ZY
Great Danes are not a Large Breed dog, They are a Giant Breed!

Any dog that is classified as large or giant breed (German shephers upwards) should not be fed more than 23% protein I didn't think I had to be that specific. Also Eagle Pack puppy food is ok for a great danes as the protein content is lower than other puppy foods.
Giant breeds are very difficult to grow as they grow so fast you have to be very careful what you feed to avoid joint and bone problems.
21% protein is great… you shouldn't have any problems with this. Don't add anything extra to his diet until he is older. I have seen far too many Danes have growth deformities from people adding to their diet. Simple is best.
