Lynndie Sunday: why i cant find Russian Toy Terrier in UK ?
I love this dog breed Russian Toy terrier, I'm ready to buy it, but i cant find it in UK.
I'm not interesting in English Toy Terrier. I know they are alike and I'm not going to buy it, because I'm in love with Russian Toy Terrier.

Could it be because the breed doesn't actually exist?
Looks like another backyard breeder scam.
These "dogs" look like Papillon/Chihuahua mixes. I don't know of any kennel club that recognizes a "Russian Toy Terrier".
There is the Russkiy Toy that is recognized by the UKC. But I have never heard of a Russian Toy Terrier and if there is some sort of mix-up with the names I would be very wary about what a "breeder" is advertising their dogs as.

Russian Toy terriers are lovely dogs and I was looking for one here in UK for ages… However is not that easy to find this breed in UK due to several issues:
1. Not very well known breed (thus that many answers say that the breed doesn't exist hahaha) thus only few breeders or breeding dogs
2. Only few puppies in a litter
3. Existing breeders fiercely protect the market – they wont allow other people to breed the dogs they bought from them. This enables them to charge loads for every puppy
3. There are lots of breeders and dogs available in Eastern Europe, but it's a difficult process…
However there are two kennels here in UK – one in Kent and another in Ireland so if you are ready to pay for a puppy £1000 -£1500 you can try and give them a call… I cant afford it so I keep looking for puppies who were imported. They costs less...
So situation is not bright, but keep looking…

My beautiful girl is currently expecting her first litter. She is a pure Russian toy terrier and so is the father of the pups to be. Puppies will arrive early November. Anyone interested should contact me at [email protected]

Please be vigilant and careful when purchasing off the woman who breeds in Kent. I have on one from her who I adore but sadly has spent his life so far riddled with poor health. I know two other owners with Russian Toys from her who both had to have luxating patella Surgeries on both of their back legs, one woman’s has epilepsy, another was told the puppies baldness was its adult coat growing when actually it has alopecia, my poor little one is awaiting a biopesy result for cancer. She over breeds her dogs and I was informed by the Russian toy club on Facebook she imports them from the ulkrane. Her home at the time I visited it to collect mine in 2016 had about 15 tiny puppies in rabbits indoor cages, had a conservatory full of veteranary style cages, as well as approx a dozen of those bald style cats she was selling too. This is not responsible breeding and it appears she has stopped advertising like she used to, no doubt because of all the complaints made about her. I should have known better but as A first time owner I didn’t, I’m glad at least I have given my dog a loving home and have the best bond with him, his failing health breaks my heart and no one else should have to endure what I have the last couple of years, my vet has said this is clearly all from over breeding and farming. Ask yourself, Russian toys have tiny litters so how come she has so many for sale so often.

I have a Russian Toy, they are a recognised breed in the U.K. and are now able to be kennel club registered. There are a few but not many reputable breeders here in the uk. I was at crufts this year and we did have a stand there for the Russian Toy but they were not actually shown. They will will be shown next year though.
If you are still looking for a Russian Toy I can put you in touch with a couple of reputable breeders

I’m wondering if it was your dogs I was petting at crafts and you gave me a photo for my granddaughter,Are you based in London,I live at Newcastle and would really appreciate if you know any breeders in the north of England or if not I would travel Thank You Sandra x

Sandra I live in Newcastle too. The dogs at crufts all belonged to my friends and most of them are in and around London. Do you want a dog with pedigree papers or are you just wanting a pet? There is a big difference in the price. Also some dogs are being sold as full Russian toy and they are a cross so, you must be careful. You are welcome to see my little girl anytime. She is only 7 months. I do know of breeders further north but would need to speak privately to you rather than on an open forum .

Hi Jacqui after I’ve had a long chat with my husband and we have decided to put it on hold at the moment and just dedicate our time to our oldies just now as one of them is a bit poorly,But would like to keep in touch with you for when I decide I want one as it is the Russian toy I want,I’m not bothered about papers as long as its a full breed as I want a small dog eventually for a companion for my Chi x.It would just be a pet and it wouldn’t be having puppies
Do you want my email address or my Facebook pg x
Jacqui Wilson says
Send me your fb page and I will add you …..you will be able to see how the Russian gets on this year in competition and also next year is our first year at crufts. We were allowed to display them this year but can compete next year

It actually is a legit breed in Russia they have been breeding them for hundreds of years.
Evidence of the dogs existence goes back as far as the 1700's.
Just because a dog isn't recognized by the the major kennel clubs doesn't mean that it isn't a real breed.
