The Sharplaninac or Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog is a molosser-type mountain dog breed of the livestock guardian type that comes from the Balkan Mountains in Europe in the border area between Kosovo, Macedonia, and Albania. The documentary film that was shown on Yugoslav TV pictures the Sharplaninac shepherd protecting the sheep in the night from attacking wolves and actually killing two of the intruders.
This strong and mighty dog resembles Caucasian Shepherd that has a strong reputation of a courageous wolf killer dog.

Shar Planina (SARA) is a mountain in the southern part of Kosovo and the northwestern part of Macedonia. Šarplaninac (mak. Sarplaninec; used are also called "Illyrian Sheepdog", "Macedonian shepherd" and "Macedonian mountain dog") is a race of sheepdog originating from the Sar Mountains. The only dog that can fight with a wolf (Sarplaninac vs wolf) and a bear. Strongest dog in the world...respect
Molossian:
They used to use Collies to protect flocks from wolves. Imagine a Collie vs. a Wolf. I think this dog is great.
Ben:
That is a movie. They must have drugged the wolves.
George:
If you really think wolves can kill all dogs then you definitely must not know about Armenian Wolfhounds or Caucasian Shepherds. They kill wolves and they kill the biggest types of wolves.

Usually, this video is Caucasian.:))))
zvocnik24:
Caucasian Shepherd is not a wolf killer dog but just one of livestock guardian dog breeds, and only a few reach the 100 kg the average weight is around 80 kg. If we compare it to the largest wolf caught that weighted 82 kg its again, not a big difference. And the Caucasian dog is not very agile and it is slow compared to a wolf.
- Can caucasian shepherd dog kill a wolf?
- Who would win in a fight between a wolf and a pitbull?
- Will a caucasian mountain dog kill a black bear?
sprinklemist1:
If your LGDs are not protecting flocks sufficiently, it is because you are not employing enough dogs for the job. No flock should be guarded by a sole dog. We have seen a single LGD fight off a cougar even. These LGDs are worth their weight in gold.

I think it is two Sarplaninac dogs and a man with a spear against a wolf as shown in the video. Don't exaggerate stuffs coz it's annoying.

Good it's not fun losing livestock for that people...it means those dogs are effective

Not bad, if this is even real and the wolves were actually healthy, wild wolves, but I'd like to see this dog take on a bull, horse, bear, or wild boar-like American Pitbulls can and do. There's a reason why people that match dogs against each other and against other large animals like bulls, bears, and wild boar to do battle choose the American Pitbull and why the American Pitbull is the most famous, highest prized, most popular, and most successful canine gladiator of all time that dominates the professional and legit sport of dog combat able to do more, go on for longer and push itself further than any other breed.
The American Pitbull is obviously the superior breed for combat and taking on other animals. They were bred as farm dogs that would help and protect farmers from livestock, especially the bulls (which are much larger, stronger, tougher, more aggressive, and more dangerous than any wolf). If a bull or whatever tried to attack the farmer, the American Pitbull would take it on and get it under control.
I have even seen Pitbulls take on horses by themselves. This Illyrian dog can't hold a candle to the American Pitbull breed overall. American Pitbulls are stronger, more athletic, tougher, more versatile, and are obviously greater gladiators that have been used to battle bulls and bears in gladiatorial competitions (things that breeds like whatever breed this dog has never done).

I owned a Sarplaninac. They are fierce, yes, but no match for a large, male timber wolf. The video is fixed: two Sarplaninacs against a small wolf, and probably stabbed by the man with a spear. No dog, even a Sarpla, can exceed 400 psi of BF. A wolf generates the double so is always in advantage.

American Pit Bull Terriers are descendants of English Pit Bull Terriers….And most of the folks that want them end up abandoning them to the dog pound….people suck!!

being a maker of plenty popular and interesting documentaries, I’m gonna say that the day that you have to make a video of my family members being ripped apart by tell you what it’s pretty fucking sad you don’t have a documentary at all at all you’re trying to make something out of nothing you suck and so does your video take it off now? . You’ll probably be getting a letter from my attorney and my psychiatrist. Thank you.

Put bulls are a joke compared to Caucasian shepherds or anything like caucasian shepherds. A pit bull will get eaten by one lol.

You’re on crack …these slow sluggish mountain dogs like Kansas and Caucasian Shepherds wouldn’t stand a chance against a pitbull, amstaff, bully, cane corso, presa canario, or ban-dog….I’ve worked Kangals, yes they are tough but not game like the breeds I mentioned… You think bigger is better? Try shaking off a 160 pound Cane Corso….lololol…I’ve been training protection dogs for 46 years.

Sam, you are clueless..
Pits come in and grab the neck…if they can’t grab the neck, they’ll snap a leg like a toy. I don’t condone dog fighting at all! Some breeds have rare cases of course but to often. 1 if the toughest, baddest dogs I came across was a legitimate 152 pound German Shepherd with a 31 inch neck, he was a freak, all muscle and fast as a smaller dog. If he hit you in muzzle training he could and has broke people’s ribs. He would take a 280 agitator of his feet with a back bite and throw him 8-10 feet…He was one badass dog!!!

Was he from an existing line…I’d love to incorporate some of that blood in my dogs….thanks for the perspective…my dogs got another level to strive for

I like the last comment, even the 2 dogs listed. I no longer know how much I like the APBT due to the hype & druglords & gangsters who exploit these animals, even people who train them to attack. Let’s face it: America can’t be the only country to have produced a super canine. Dogos catch/kill wild boars better than APBTs, ovchakas kill wolves better, even 1 dogo killed a puma, all these for necessity e.g. the dogo saved 2 girls, ovcharka to guard sheep which are livelihood of shepherds/farmers. I don’t like a wild animal killed by dogs except possibly a wild pig. They are a nuisance in Asia, Australia, America north & south, in fact everywhere else in the world. A black bear in America is also proving to be a pariah in society. But humans have some blame e.g. feeding baboons, leaving garbage in ‘open’ distress etc.

Hi peeps!
It’s the old man again.
All this talk about what dog is the”Best” fighter is just plain stupid
If you love dogs then why would you want to see them fight either with each other or against other animals? If they are guarding a herd or are working as military or police dogs , that is a different story.
I’m sure that any large dog can be a very tough adversary when riled up. My dogs are both serious fighters ( Dogo Argentinian, Turkish Kangal) but wonderful, loving animals
I am against all Animal fights.
I know that this will not change anyone’s mind, but it’s how I personally feel.
Thank you for listening. The Best to you all!!!
