Jennifer Riggs: Where in the USA can I buy a Kangal Dog? The price?
I have been doing a lot of research and I am looking for a family dog. The Kangal breed has caught my eye. I will be moving to a farm soon and with all of the livestock and children, I need another loving set of eyes.

There are a few reputable Kangal dog breeders in the US, although there is a serious debate over the Kangal vs. Anatolian Shepherd. They are considered separate breeds by some, and the same breed by others....so, take your pick. Although they are recognized by the two major breed clubs here in the US (the AKC recognizes the Anatolian and the UKC recognizes both the Kangal and the Anatolian). Both are wonderful specimens.

I would recommend that you check with the breed clubs for the particular breeds - the ASDCA for the Anatolians, and the KDCA for the Kangal Dog.
The prices for both dogs will range, depending on if you're looking at pet vs. working vs. show-bred dogs. In my area (Colorado) the prices start at around $ 500 and easily go up from there. The best idea is to contact the current breeders and ask.

The prices are not set in stone and can fluctuate depending on the sex, size, personality, and any other factors that might contribute to the Kangal’s value.
The price of a puppy ranges from $400 to $1,500 in the US. Established kangal dogs can cost anywhere between $800 to $2,000.

The price of a kangal dog is not standardized. It is determined by the breeder and the demand for these dogs. They typically cost upwards of USD 1,000 when they’re not found at a rescue organization or shelter.
Answer by Dorothy
Kangals are generally expensive dogs because of their rarity. The price is around $1,200 for one pup.

In the US, the average cost of the Kangal ranges between $500-$2,000. If you want to buy a puppy from a good breeder, the price could be anywhere from $2000 to $3,000.

There are Kangals for sale coast to coast. You just have to look REALLY hard. My price is $1800.
Some people will sell pups for cheap but they go quick and are usually substandard puppies…
Whatever you do, don't get a registered dog…. the UKC and AKC both allow inbreeding…. parent to offspring… please don't support that machine… Inbreeding like that is illegal in humans for a reason…. dogs shouldn't be treated any less.

Rocky Mountain it seems you are misinformed, uneducated, and without a doubt from a limited gene pool yourself. I bought my Kangal dog from a great breeder in Georgia. Her website has a complete lineage chart and her dogs are registered to that chart. There are no gene pool issues with her dogs and you should be ashamed of yourself for providing no proof to your drivel since it’s just gossip.

My name is Naomi and I’m a Kangal breeder and lover located in Northern California. I have a breeding pair that breeds once a year. I just welcomed a new litter if you would like to check out my website.
