Do you mean Miniature Doberman Pinscher?
Answer by Lisa L
It's actually called a Miniature Pinscher and the only thing that looks like a Dachshund is the color.

I think you may have seen a standard size dachshund. The wire-haired variety is known for longer legs: the standard allows them to be "taller" than the smooth or long-haired dogs.
Search for Google pictures of Standard wire-haired Dachshund
yes, you may see these colors: red, wheaten, black and tan, wild boar, and piebald.

A Miniature PINSCHER!
There is no such thing as a Miniature Doberman.
Miniature Pinscher
Manchester Terrier
German Pinscher
Doberman Pinscher
All different breeds, but all do come in Black/tan or Black/rust & Reds (the Doberman also comes in Blue & Fawn).

I have two Doxies, a longhair and a smooth, and of them is a black-and-tan. I'm glad to hear you think they are so cute!
I can't deny the cuteness of Dachshunds, but I urge you to consider appearance LAST when choosing a dog for your little girl. This dog is going to be in your family for 12+ years, and it needs to be the right fit for your family. Breeds differ so greatly from each other in so many ways, that you are going to be in trouble if you choose one on appearance. You've got to do research and plenty of it. Plenty of dogs are small and cute, but small and cute does not mean they are the right dog for you.
A lot of people here are probably going to recommend breeds they think are cute, or breeds they themselves own and/or love, and they just KNOW they would be great for your family. But not every breed is for everyone. Many small breeds, including Dachshunds, are not very good with kids. Some can be snappy and temperamental even with kids in their own family, many of them are "one person dogs" and may bond with someone other than your little girl and not make a good friend for her, and many are relatively physically fragile and don't make good playmates for kids.
Once you narrow it down to a few, check out a few breed-specific forums and ask people who actually own these dogs to give you all the positive and negatives. Real owners will be able to tell you more than you'll ever read on any informational website, and most of them are going to be glad to answer any specific questions you might have. If you can find someone who will be completely honest about both the positive AND negative aspects of their breed and is willing to share that info with you, then you've found a valuable resource.
No breed is perfect, but you want to find one that is as close to perfect as possible for your family and lifestyle. Appearance should be a factor (you don't want a dog you don't even like to look at, after all), but only one of many (more important) factors.
