Q: The top three strongest dogs?
What are the top 3 strongest dogs? I'm against dogfighting and just wondering. Why most of the people think the Pit Bull is number 1?
In my opinion, the strongest dogs are:
Wolfdog
Caucasian Ovcharka
Tibetan Mastiff
Dogo Argentino/Rottweiler

Are we talking about bite strength? If so, I'd have to disagree with several of your choices.
First of all, "wolfdog" is too ambiguous. You could have a wolf/Siberian Husky mix, or you could have a wolf/mastiff mix. Since it's impossible to predict the size, body type and muzzle length/broadness of an unknown wolf mix, then it's impossible to guess the dog's strength. Secondly, the wolf has a relatively long, narrow muzzle, so their bite force is about 405 pounds. That's impressive against certain domesticated breeds, but not against other domesticated breeds, particularly amongst the mastiff group. So, being mixed with a wolf might make some breeds stronger, but it wouldn't be at all beneficial to the breeds that already have more powerful bites.

The Rottweiler's bite force is only about 330 pounds, while the Dogo's is probably relatively similar. That would knock them off the list of strongest biting dogs.
I would probably list the Kangal, Mastiff, Dosa Inu and, I dunno, Neapolitan Mastiff. Most mastiffs are fairly comparable, though.
But if we're talking about another type of strength, then you gotta be more specific. Just general strength? How can that be measured? And does it take into consideration the dog's drive? I mean, there are too many variables.. A driven Caucasian Ovcharka is certainly a powerful dog, but what if, by some defect of temperament and training, he's docile? Then how would you describe his strength?

If you mean strength that can be measured through pulling work, then I would actually probably include the American Pit Bull Terrier because they can pull as much as 150 times their own weight or so. For instance, a pit named Cajun pulled 6,258 pounds when he weighed only 57 pounds.

I'd also list the American Bulldog, Rottweiler and Bullmastiff. (But again, this type of strength requires that the dog have the drive to do this sort of work. For instance, it totally knocks a dog like the Tibetan Mastiff off the list — a breed that is undeniably powerful, but simply isn't designed to do this type of work.)

I had adopted a 9month old huskey that was abused, under weight, &beat so bad in her head that she was blind. I saved her from the lical pound that was going to put her to sleep. I took her to the vet over 2&1/2 years I gave her a great home lots of love. After adopting her I had moved& got an apartment with my son,his girlfriend, my granddaughter & their 2dogs. The female(the mom)she was half pitbull&half rott, amale (the son)3/4pitbull 1/4rott. Well 1day they cornered my huskey in the hallway & they tried to pin her down but my blind huskey stood her ground & she bit the mom back& when I came out the bathroom my huskey blind& alone scared the pits off her! Dont under estimate a huskey! Those pits never bothered her again!

Dobermans, Caucasian Ovcharka, Germans Shepard. I have a extra large Doberman and he is the sweetest thing. The only dog I have ever been bitten by is a chihuahua!

I would say Mastiff, St. Bernard, and Bernese Mountain Dog. Great Danes are up there, but they're not as bulky as these dogs.

Out of all of those dog breeds I would have to say that the Dogo Argentino, and the Rottweiler would be the strongest dogs…along with the Mastiff.
A dogs strength depends on its drive, out of all these dogs I would have to say the Dogo Aregentino, the Rottweiler would be a close second because they have the strongest recorded bite force of all domesticated dogs.

I think that Pits are up there because they have a VERY powerful jaw that makes their bite one of the most powerful. I also think any type of Mastiff (I have a Bullmastiff), Rottweiler, and I think Great Danes are very strong as well
