Q: How much should I feed my Samoyed Dog?
We usually feed our dogs dry food and chicken necks. What is Samoyed feeding amounts?

Search the back of the dry food packet as most packets tell you how much to feed according to weight. As for chicken necks, you can feed it to your Samoyed for entertainment if your ever out of the house - although I recommend supervising your dog with them.

For how much to feed, there should be guidelines on the bag of food. Divide the total amount per day into two feedings. Then gradually adjust the amount up or down as needed. You have to determine whether your dog needs to lose weight, and correct the feeding guidelines.

There's no "Samoyed" dog food out there. Stay away from grocery store foods such as Pedigree, Beneful, Alpo, Iams, Kibbles n Bits, Ol Roy, Bakers, etc. These foods are complete trash and are nothing but a bag full of corn, wheat, soy, sugar, artificial dyes, and flavorings.

Dogs need meat in their food, and they SHOULD NOT be ingesting corn, fake meat, and by-products. Stay away from Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, and Nutro because these foods are also filled with corn, soy, wheat, and by-products (contrary to popular belief).

Go to your local pet store and look for foods with good meat content and no junky fillers. You want dog food with meat named products in the first 2-4 ingredients (such as duck, chicken, venison, turkey, lamb, etc), with no corn, wheat, soy, or by-products in the ingredients. Good grains are oatmeal, barley, and rice. Some of these good dog foods are:

Wellness
Eagle Holistic Select
Blue Buffalo
Natural Balance
Taste of the Wild
Merrick
Pinnacle
Fromm
Diamond Naturals
Nature's Variety
Innova
Acana
Orijen
Canidae

Start with the amount recommended on the bag of kibble and watch his body condition. You can adjust from there, either up or down depending upon the body silhouette.

Don't be put off by Purina, this is a body symbol for all dogs regardless of what you are feeding.
