Dancing Goddess: How to deal with putting your pet to sleep?
I had my dog since I was ten years old and when I was eleven my mom was preg and lost the baby so she grew attach to the dog even more. My dog wasn't the best dog ever because he would bite you if you came close to my mom (even to me) but at the same time of course I loved him because he's been apart of the family for years, He recently started to go blind and he was coughing a lot so we took him in and we found out that he has a bad heart and he needed to take three medicine a day.

Whenever we tried to take him outside he would shake and cringe because the sun hit his eyes and he couldn't see even more. My dad even tried to put sun glasses on him but he wouldn't want to go outside to do his business.

He didn't want to take his pills or eat and whenever he did eat it was barely anything. Today it was so heart breaking because he ran around the house and was being super playful...i think that itself killed my mom and me.

I feel so damn guilty because my father was the one who pushed us to take him in (he feels guilty for doing it but at the same time my dog was causing my mom stress because he wouldn't eat and my mom would be late for work trying to get him to eat and she'd worry about him all day)
So I told my mom that we should put him to sleep because he was scared of everything and he stopped eating.

Sadly he had to be so playful before we took him in...he ran around the house like when he was a puppy and that itself was heart breaking.

So how to deal with the lose? What can I do to help my mom and my own guilt because I wish he died on his own. Right now my mom has been crying but she also has been saying stuff like "Go take the dog outside" or "Don't feed the dog any human food because he hasn't ate his food"

i know she's joking but I don't know how to respond to it.

plus I feel weird going into her room and thinking Dino is still there with her or he's going to growl at me when I get close to my mom (he was over protective of her)

or even when I would bring him to my room to play with him...we already lost my grandma (who was living with us) and now our dog...it's just my parents and me now and it feels so lonely and the house feels way too big now.

So how do you deal with the lost?
Also we decided not to get another pet right now but maybe I'll get a rabbit or a dog once I get my own place, however my mom already said that she can't deal bonding with another pet. Plus even if she did get one, I don't think she should get one so soon after our dog is gone.
