How Can I Stop my Cane Corso Dog from Shedding?

Q: How can I stop my dog from shedding? She’s a year and a half old Cane Corso, and I find myself sweeping up after her every day. I brush and bathe her and it only makes it worse. I feed her really good, natural food and add olive oil to it; doesn’t help. She gets plenty of exercise and attention. It’s so bad that when she shakes, fur flies EVERYWHERE! Can anyone help?!

You just keep on brushing her… What kind of brush are you using? Use a brush like the medium slicker and it should help you out…

You can't stop her from shedding but brushing her EVERY day will help. Also, the breeder that I got my sheltie from told me that you are not supposed to bathe your dogs a lot. It will wash away the oil they need for their skin, therefore making the skin dry and the hair more brittle and most likely to fall out more.

you need to check his or her food and get some wheat germ, and vitamins. You also have to brush more often and baths seem to help my dog. My Vet says dogs get freaked out if they are around yelling or allot of new people. They shed because they are Nevsa, or get excited. Also, check and see if he or she is breaking out from the food. I hope this helps you more. Oh yeah if you walk your dog like 30 min. every day it will help also. If that doesn't work then get a dog coat…..

Get the "Furminator" Brush. Or call around to some local groomers, they have a whole furminator treatment! That reduces shedding b 90 percent (supposedly i have NEVER TRIED THIS, i HAVE head great thing about it though)

You can't stop Cane Corso from shedding… but you can feed it a good diet and that will lessen it. Other than that, you can go to PetsMart and get her groomed. They have a low-shed thing that they do….. they blow air on them at a high pressure and it sweeps away all the loose hair. You have to have a rabies certificate, though. Cane Corsos are beautiful!

A thick coating of shellac out to do the trick. lol….seriously, good luck with this, animals shed. Does yours get a raw egg about once a week in its food? That helps skin and coat problems by preventing the minor ones. Other than keeping the animal brushed, clean, and healthy, you can use a shed comb, but my vet dislikes them. She suggested a PLASTIC people comb, as being less irritating to the animal's skin. This will remove much of the undercoat, but you will still have shedding, just less.

Keep brushing daily…

You can't stop a dog from shedding and before purchase this is why most people recommend you research the breed of choice and not buy upon impulse as this tends to happen – an owner not expecting a breed standard such as over-shedding or tendency to nip, ext. and they get into something way over their heads. Good Luck with your Cane Corso.
