Giggles: My dog is APRI registered and his papers show champion bloodlines, he's a great bulldog, can I breed him?
I purchased him from Petland, and my vet told me that he is almost a perfect example of what an English Bulldog should look like, without any of the hip problems or breathing problems that can be common. I have had him for a year and I think he is great, and we have had several offers to breed him. I have heard that APRI is less than perfect, is it possible to prove his bloodlines and register him with AKC?

Sure you "can" breed him. But you probably shouldn't.
No offense to your vet - but I know very few people whose vets have NOT told them that their dog is the BEST representative of their breed that they've ever seen. However, your vet is not a dog show judge, he is a doctor. He is also a businessman (or woman.) He knows that by stroking your ego & telling you what a wonderful dog you have, you will want to come back to him. And the vet will make more money.
Also - one year old is quite young to be evaluating any dog. Your dog may not have developed breathing problems yet but may do so in the future. And IF in fact, he were a perfect example of a Bulldog, he WOULD have breathing problems. Due to the shape of a perfect Bulldog's head - it is more difficult for them to breathe.
Also - unless your vet has taken X-rays of your dog's hips & sent them to OFA to be certified, he can't possibly have any idea that your dog has good hips.
And of course, pretty much every dog everywhere has some champions somewhere in their bloodlines. But that in no way makes your dog a better Bulldog. As the old saying goes - you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. If your dog doesn't have a good background with good genes - he is not going to be a "Great" Bulldog - but he CAN be a great pet!
If your dog isn't AKC registerable, there is a reason. If I were you, I would save myself the hassle & just have him neutered & enjoy him as a pet.

I would breed him with another APRI or AKC registered for perfect pups. make sure its the same breed...we don't need another i.d.i.o.t making new hybrids of dogs!

Your dog has champion Bloodlines and you got him from a pet store??? No reputable breeder of champion dogs will sell to a pet store.

Unfortunately the APRI isn't a real purebred registry. Although there may be champion bloodlines in his registry you cannot register him on AKC because his parents weren't AKC dogs. Even if the mother was AKC and the father wasn't your dog will not qualify for the AKC. You can still breed him with other Bulldogs. Just make sure his health is 100% with not hip or breathing problems.

Champion lines from a registry like APRI don't mean much. It means even less that you brought him at a pet store - a dog with true champion parents would never be caught being sold off at a pet store when the breeders would be super careful who to place the pup with.
You can't prove his bloodlines much less register him with the AKC since the paperwork you have for his pedigree with through APRI.
Your vet is not a professional judge for dogs. Vets take care of the medical side of animals, not so much conformation.
Even if your dog was a good example of its kind, you should enter it in competitions so that you can have a good, first-person look at other competing dogs and then truly decide whether or not you should breed your dog.
Plus having champion bloodlines does not make your dog champion quality. Both of our dogs are from champion bloodlines - our mini pin's father was 3rd in the nation at major dog shows - but she is fixed because she herself not of CH. quality.
