Brotherbear Acres - New Caucasian Ovcharka Breeder in the US

Brotherbear Acres is a family homestead in Northern Michigan. The name is due to a beloved dog named Kuya, which means “big brother” in Tagalog. It is a fitting nom de guerre for a Caucasian Ovcharka, big and bear-like in stature.

Caucasian Ovcharkas (CO’s) go by various names: Caucasian Shepherd, Caucasian Mountain Dog, Russian Bear Dog, and many more. One thing definitive about this breed is its ability to protect their family at all costs.

Kuya, Kai, Mila, Hadouken, Chance, Darla, and Bree. These dogs make up an extraordinary pack at Brotherbear Acres. Their job? Working on the farm to guard the livestock and their treasured little humans who work alongside them. This incredible pack work together using their unique, individual traits to their advantage.

The Pack

The leader of the pack, Kuya, is pure strength. His mature age doesn’t hold him back and he is in top shape, as active and agile as the rest. With experience and honed skills, he can sense if there’s immediate danger. When protecting his territory from potential threats, Kuya will not hesitate. Kuya takes the time to influence Kai, second in command. Kai was born wise and gentle, he is an exceptional guardian of the flock. There’s mutual respect in their bond and they make a remarkable team.

Mila is focused and first to alert the pack of possible threats, always on the lookout with her keen sense of hearing and smell. Mila will pursue and chase away loitering predators confidently with Darla tracking her moves, ready as swift back up. Darla’s unrivaled speed can get her where she’s needed in record time.

A solid member of this pack who could challenge Darla in a race would be Chance. He is a powerhouse and can cover great distances in little time. Chance’s other superpower is his ability to win over anyone with his big heart. He's a steadfast guardian, loyalty engraved in his bones.

Litter Planning

This brings us to Hadouken and Bree, a prime example of Brotherbear Acres’ Sire and Dam pairing. Hadouken has a striking look to him and you can immediately tell that he’s quite a serious dog, poised and committed in doing his job well. His temperament compliments Bree who is calm and maternal. Bree is commonly found near the children, devotedly keeping them company and out of harm’s way. Bree and Hadouken made an ideal pairing, their puppies demonstrated a balanced example of this majestic breed.

Caucasian Ovcharkas should be bred for their power, agility, and intelligence along with their fierce loyalty and dedication to their family. At Brotherbear Acres, the primary goal is to breed sensibly. There is no expectation to exterminate the ferocity that makes this the distinguished Caucasian Ovcharka. The target is to produce well-rounded CO’s that are worthy of the name and true to their original purpose; a revered working dog that is valued for their work and a dependable member of the family.

Each planned breeding at Brotherbear Acres is decided with utmost care to produce first-rate puppies that accentuate the favorable traits of the Caucasian Ovcharka. This is made possible at Brotherbear Acres on account that each dog on site comes from a different bloodline. The pack boasts a range of coat colors, markings, and other defining features that interested parties can expect unique qualities for their future CO. Combine this with the great attention the dogs receive. You’ve got yourself a family member that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Living with Caucasian Ovcharkas

Brotherbear Acres greatly values family and the return to simple living with the help of old-world traditions. They attribute the success of raising livestock possible on their land to their hard-working dogs. Countless loss and harsh conditions would befall the animals that depend on them for safety if it weren’t for these prized companions; as with the sheep and goats that roam the Caucasus Mountain Regions in Eastern Europe and Western Asia.

Caucasian Ovcharkas have been bred to do this essential job for multiple generations and having the privilege to carry on this lineage is a source of pride for this homesteading family.
